Rescue of a polygonal barn
The aim of the project is the reconstruction of a transferred twelve-side polygonal barn from Čistá near Litomyšl in a new place in Trstěnice near Litomyšl. After the completion of its reconstruction in the place of an earlier vanished polygonal barn close to the farmstead No. 56 in Trstěnice, the building will serve its original purpose as a background for the production of traditional thatch roofing and other agricultural production. Together with other renewed vernacular buildings, the polygonal barn will form the core of a nascent open-air museum that will be made accessible to the wide public. The implementation of the project started in 2015 with survey and documentation works, the preparation of the building renovation project and the physical transfer of the building to a temporary storage place (Phase I). The building permit for the reconstruction of the building near the farmstead No 56 in Trstěnice was obtained on 2 March 2016. The reconstruction works on the building are taking place between April and December 2016 (Phase II). The provisional roofing will be replaced by traditional straw thatch roofing in 2017 (Phase III).
